FRACTIONAL OFFICERSHIPS

If it works for ships, planes and vacation houses, why wouldn't work for a CMO?

I can still remember about 30 years ago when I started my first business. It was not inherited, and I was not previously related with it. It was a simple fresh start in the printing and graphic design business. For several years our main customers were Marketing Officers.

About 10 years ago I was offered a position as a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) in a medium sized company in my hometown so I shifted from being a provider of a Marketing Officer to being one. My trip in that job will be part of another story, but the true thing is that it ended one year before the covid year.

Before covid affected every single venture, business, company, and job I knew then, I was trying to offer my services as a Marketing Officer. Keep in mind that very few opportunities were visible at the end of 2019. In 2020 ( the covid year ) there are widely spread layoffs, and very few ( if none ) companies hiring. The very few interviews I attended came with almost an identical answer

“We need someone like you, but we can not afford you”

The first time I heard it, I felt like a luxury item. By the third or fourth time I began to feel that hard times were ahead, and they were ahead for sure all 2020.
